Michael graduated from York University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Science and a Certificate in Athletic Therapy. In 1997, Michael became certified as an Athletic Therapist in Canada while continuing his studies at McMaster University. He graduated from McMaster in 1998 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy. Later that year he became certified as an Athletic Trainer in the U.S.A. Upon entering private practice, Michael earned a post-graduate Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association in 2002.

Michael has over ten years of experience in private practice, treating primarily in orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation. He has volunteered as a therapist at many national and international sporting events including the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, the 2003 Canada Winter Games in New Brunswick and the 2005 Maccabiah Games in Israel.

In addition to sports injuries, Michael has experience in treating an assortment of spinal dysfunction and upper and lower extremity injuries. The bulk of his treatment expertise lies in the use of manual therapy, which includes muscle and joint mobilization and manipulation. Adjuncts to his treatments include active exercise programs, core stabilization and acupuncture. He holds the CAFCI designation (certified by Accupuncture foundation of Canada Institute).

Michael is a member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists. He is also an instructor for the post-graduate diploma program of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy within the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

In addition, Michael is a part-time faculty member at York University, where he teaches Athletic Therapy courses to students of the Kinesiology and Health Sciences program.
